DGP sanctions meritorious scholarships

SRINAGAR: The Director General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda, on Thursday sanctioned scholarships in favour of school going children of police personnel, who have secured distinction in 8th and 9th class. The scholarships have been sanctioned for the academic year 2009-2010. Giving details, the DGP said that over Rs. 2.50 lakh have been sanctioned in favour of 123 wards of police personnel which include 55 wards of serving police personnel and 68 wards of deceased police personnel. The meritorious scholarships have been sanctioned in favour of those children who have secured 75 per cent and above marks in 8th and 9th class and the scholarships sanctioned in favour of children of police martyrs who are studying in different classes from 1st Primary to Graduation level. He further said that these students are studying in various educational institutions across the State. On the occasion, Khoda stressed upon the parents to make best use of these scholarships for future studies of their children. He emphasised that scholarships are being sanctioned in favour of the meritorious students out of Central Police Welfare Fund, who secure distinction in different annual examinations. He maintained that department has a realisation that the police personnel remain away from their homes in service of the nation and their families do not get the required care. It is responsibility of the organisation to encourage the wards of these personnel for competing in various competitive examinations for their better career prospects, he added. The scholarships sanctioned among the meritorious children, include Suhaib Nazir, Fauiq Bashir, Syed Sumaira, Nisha Bharti, Sumyra Jan, Rupal Koul, Amit Sharma,Vaishali Devi, Sahila Naaz Wani, Manisa Irshad, Vaishali Koul, Shubham Rattan, Surbhi Sharma, Azeem Mehmood, Umer Hyder, Shaista Ahad, Prabhjyot, Nayeem Altaf, Irfan Naseer, Sakshi Pandita, Sonika Sharma, Muneeb Majeed, Faizan Hassan, Pallavi Saini, Aamir Maqbool Wani, Mohammad Wasif Manhas, Zahir-ul-Islam, Saima Manzoor, Kritika Sharma, Mohammad Tariq, Akanksha Mengi, Kirtiman Sharma, Monu Pandita, Neha Bhat, Priyanka Pandita, Romika Manhas,Navdeep Kour, Mudasir Ahmed, Abhishek Sharma, Manisha Sharm Simran Sharma, Deepshikha Raina, Richa Sharma, Sheetal Mansotra, Tasanaum Sajjad, Reshu Pandita, Neha Sharma, Kajal Verma, Rubiya Banoo, Shivam Pandita, Pooja Sharma and Zahida Gul.
